The Maryland General Assembly has been called into Special Session August 3-7, 2026. The subject is Congressional Redistricting. On July 20th, legislators received an email from the Senate and House leadership stating that they are not accepting any bill drafting requests unless they are specifically related to congressional redistricting
As a result, this Special Session will not address increased registration fees, or other items of interest for our hobby. According to the Annapolis leadership, those issues will have to wait until the 2027 Legislative Session to be addressed. The following was sent to all State Delegates and Senators:
“At the direction of the Presiding Officers, we will not be taking any Bill Requests for the 2026 Special Session. If you would like to submit your request for the 2027 Regular Legislative Session, please resubmit your request” -Bill Drafting Office Staff at Maryland General Assembly
