Maryland’s collectible car community has another great reason to get our classics out on the road this September.
On Sunday, September 27, 2026, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive will return to the Baltimore area, bringing together classic automobiles, dapper attire, camaraderie, and an important cause.
What Is the Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive?
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive, often abbreviated DGD, is an international classic-car event that combines a love of vintage automobiles with fundraising for men’s health.
The concept is simple:
Dress dapper. Drive classic. Raise funds for men’s health.
Participants around the world dress in their finest attire, climb behind the wheel of their classic automobiles, and take part in locally organized drives.
The event supports Movember, with funds raised benefiting programs focused on prostate cancer and men’s mental health.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive began in 2021 and was created by the organization behind the highly successful Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, which brings together classic and vintage motorcycle enthusiasts for the same cause.
Baltimore Joins the Worldwide Drive
This year’s worldwide Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive takes place on:
Sunday, September 27, 2026
Baltimore is among the participating cities, giving Maryland collectors an opportunity to join enthusiasts around the world while enjoying our cars right here at home.
The Baltimore event is currently scheduled to begin at 11:30 AM and is limited to 50 participating vehicles.
Unlike a traditional car show or Cars & Coffee, this event is designed around actually driving and enjoying our classic vehicles.
Participants gather with their automobiles, take part in an organized drive, and enjoy the experience alongside fellow collectors and enthusiasts.
The exact starting location and route are provided to registered participants rather than being publicly posted. This helps organizers manage the event and ensures that those participating in the drive are properly registered.
What Vehicles Are Eligible?
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive is specifically designed around classic automobiles.
For 2026, eligible vehicles generally need to be 40 years old or older, meaning vehicles manufactured before the end of 1985.
Certain continuation models and period-correct recreations may also qualify under the event’s vehicle guidelines.
Participating vehicles must also be properly registered, insured, mechanically safe, and meet the event’s other eligibility requirements.
This focus on older automobiles makes the Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive especially relevant to Maryland’s collectible and historic vehicle community.
Don’t Forget to Dress the Part
The cars are only half of the experience.
Participants are encouraged to dress in dapper, period-inspired or otherwise distinguished attire.
Think suits, sport coats, bow ties, suspenders, driving caps, dresses, vintage fashion, and other clothing that complements the character of the automobiles.
Passengers are welcome as well, and everyone is encouraged to get into the spirit of the occasion.
The result is something considerably different from the typical weekend cruise.
It is part classic-car road rally, part social gathering, part vintage celebration, and most importantly, a fundraiser supporting an important cause.
A Great Opportunity for Maryland’s Collectible Car Community
Events like the Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive demonstrate something we strongly believe at the Maryland Collectible Auto Association:
Our hobby is about much more than the vehicles.
It’s about the people, the history, the stories, the friendships, and the communities built around preserving and enjoying these automobiles.
It’s also about what our community can accomplish when enthusiasts come together for a common purpose.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive gives Maryland collectors an opportunity to enjoy their vehicles while helping raise awareness and funds for men’s health.
Car clubs are also encouraged to participate, making this a great opportunity for Maryland clubs and organizations to get their members involved.
