Maryland car enthusiasts are speaking up.
In this video, I break down what happened when members of the Maryland Collectible Auto Association (MCAA) testified before the Maryland House Environment and Transportation Committee about proposed changes to Maryland Historic Vehicle registration laws.
Several bills are currently under consideration that could significantly impact the collector car community. MCAA members testified in support of HB4 and HB125, which would restore the historic tag eligibility to a rolling 25-year rule and include a grandfather clause to protect vehicles already registered as historic.
We also discussed HB773, which proposes a similar change but would create a different age requirement for Street Rods. Our position is simple: Historic and Street Rod vehicles should have the same 25-year eligibility requirement.
This legislation matters to collectors, restorers, classic car owners, and anyone passionate about preserving automotive history in Maryland.
